On Saturday, August 23, 2025, the Texas State Conference gathered at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Houston for an inspiring celebration of faith, scholarship, and service. The Luncheon shined a spotlight on the best of Claverism—honoring young scholars, uplifting exemplary members, and recognizing a legacy of leadership.

Vocational and Technical Scholarship Recipients

Josiah Joseph
Josiah Joseph was born on August 2nd, in Baytown, Texas, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Baytown Lee High School, where he distinguished himself as one of the school’s top student athletes in football. Through athletics, Josiah has gained valuable lessons in discipline, teamwork, and perseverance—qualities he applies both on and off the field.
Guided by his Christian faith, Josiah strives to trust in God and rely on His strength through life’s challenges. His future goals include earning a degree in information technology, pursuing a successful career in the field, and achieving financial independence. Shaped by his experiences, Josiah remains determined to work hard, live by faith, and build a strong foundation for his future. Josiah plans to attend Lee College where he will study computer maintenance technology

Syara McCall
Syara McCall is a graduate of Manvel High School who enjoys journaling as a creative outlet. Her journey of leadership and service began in Girl Scouts and continued through her active involvement in Top Teens of America, where she was crowned Princess of the Missouri City Chapter and served as Assistant Recording Secretary. Syara has dedicated many hours to community service, volunteering at food drives, fitness events, and church programs at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. She was also an active member of Manvel High School’s Black Culture Club and a member of AIM, a leadership and scholastic organization, where she participated in various community initiatives. With a strong desire to help others, Syara plans to pursue a career in healthcare as a Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technician at Alvin Community College.
