The Texas State Conference Vocational and Technical Scholarship Program was the vision and brainchild of Brother Larry Bell and the Late Esteemed Past Supreme Lady Consuella M. Broussard who were Conference Presidents at the time. It was their vision to create a scholarship program that benefited the respected areas of the Texas State Conference whose youth developed aspirations in the vocational and technical fields of study and provide funds necessary to make those educational advancements a reality.
In 1977, the first Scholarship Banquet was held to raise funds for the scholarships. It was at the 1978 Texas State Conference that the first scholarships were distributed. For 47 years, the Texas State Conference has distributed over $80,000 in scholarships to Texas High School Seniors endeavoring to pursue the field of Vocational and Technical Studies. It is because of Lady Broussard’s and Knight Bells’ insight and fortitude in seeing the need for continuing education that we continue the legacy of this program in their honor now and for years to come.
